Tutor Me - Finalists in Business Concept Competition Print E-mail

In February 2008 Tutor Me was shortlisted along with four other businesses for the final of the annual Leeds Metropolitan University "Business Concept Competition". The competition gives new businesses with links to the university the chance to win £2000 prize money to help further develop their business whilst increasing their profie. Winners also have the opportunity to represent Leeds Met at the Regional Enterprise Awards.

Competition was tough with Tutor Me was competing against businesses established much longer than us however we are proud to say that we reached the final. The awards ceremony was held at Broadcasting House in Leeds and along with the other finalists we attended and awaited the results with baited breath! Unfortunately on this occassion we just missed out however all the finalists were of a really high standard and we were pleased just to have reached the final and had the opportunity to benefit from the experience. More details of the competition and the businesses competing can be found on Leeds Met's website at:

1. England falls in the reading league.
2. UK schools slip down in science.

This week the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) found children's reading ability in England has fallen significantly. In addition the UK has fallen out of the top four in the international league for school science.

The school system it would seem is failing to provide our children with the standard of education required to compete on what is now a global job market. The results indicate a worrying trend as we fall behind our counterparts across the world. Tutor Me has been inundated with requests for exam tuition as parents look to the private sector to enhance their children's education and exam performance.

If you feel your child is in need of some extra help then please feel free to complete a tutor enquiry form and we will do our best to find the perfect tutor for your child.
